– Bring Your Parent To Work Day: So-called helicopter parents have hit the workplace, phoning employers to advocate on behalf of their adult children. Human resource managers say more parents are trying to negotiate salary and benefits and are even sitting in on job interviews. (via nprfreshair)

Katawa Shoujo
I’m having an amazingly hard time functioning as a normal human being; this game/novel has literally been the only thing I’ve been thinking about for two days now. I don’t think I ever pegged myself as a visual novel type of dude, but I’m enjoying going through this more than what’s probably healthy. 62% completion…
I’m hesitant to get all the bad ends...

Melissa and I chatted about The Fault in Our Stars... →
This podcast makes me acutely aware of my own insufficiencies in two ways:
I wish I was as smart and as detail-oriented as Melissa and Rosi.
I wish I had friends with whom I could talk about this book and it’s many metaphors.
Still, read the book, then listen to this because… wow. Their conversation explains to me why I never got higher than a B in high school English.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il died of a heart attack while on a train trip,...
– Reuters, “North Korea Leader Kim Jong Il Is Dead.”
Watch for video of sincerely tearful North Koreans lining the roads in Pyongyang next in false deference to their dear leader. That’ll be for like a week or so. Then, God willing, that whole regime starts falling apart bit by bit until Kim Jong...

Artist Resource - November (Writing Cont'd)
I’ve learned I find good storytelling as interesting and as complex as good art. So even though I’ve basically stopped doing NaNoWriMo, I’m still including writing links.
Asterisks (*) denote pieces I found to be particularly helpful. Basically, if you’re crunched for time and can only read a few, read the asterisks.

Members of Congress can legally trade stock based on non-public information from Capitol Hill. As Lizzie O’Leary points out, much of this report owes its information from the work done by Brody Mullins at the Wall Street Journal:

RIP – ‘Family Circus’ creator Bil Keane dies at 89 →
drawnblog:
For more than a half century, Bil Keane’s clever “Family Circus” comics entertained readers with a mix of humor and traditional family values, intentionally simplistic because the author thought the American public needed the consistency. Keane, who started drawing the one-panel cartoon featuring Billy, Jeffy, Dolly, P.J. and their parents in February 1960, died Tuesday at age 89. His...
