What is there to say about this franchise? I guess you would call it a franchise. Three different adaptations of the same story through three different types of media. And unlike most other manga-anime-film families I’ve seen, Usagi Drop just keeps getting better and better. If you have some sort of beef with the manga ending (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) you might want to watch this movie.

Pop GO Presents: Reader Appreciation Week Podcast

Pop GO wouldn’t be what it is today if it didn’t have the continued support of the readers. So this week, while not as ambitious as the first Reader Appreciation Week, is meant to do just that: show our appreciation to our wonderful readers out there!

• Will be writing a shit-ton apparently
• Attending industry panels and doing some legit reporting
• So much more work than when I was a VIZ intern
• May just skive off Friday entirely because of this

Pop GO Celebrates “Reader Appreciation Week”!

In honor of all of the readers who has helped Pop GO surpass the 10,000 follower mark, we will be dedicating all of next week, starting Monday, Dec. 5th until Friday, Dec. 9th, to all of the wonderful geeks and otaku who have made it possible!

Compared to the more prominent blogs on Tumblr, 10,000 may not be that big of a number. But to a humble geek site like ours, it is beyond anything we have ever imagined. Pop GO wouldn’t be where it is today without the continued love and support that our readers have shown us the past year. Therefore, next week is all for YOU.

Anime Expo 2011 Wrap-Up

Another AX in the books! Had a lot of fun with @aZooRe and her brother for four days. Definitely a good convention. I got back to the city a few hours ago; Lauren had to take care of some housing stuff in Riverside. I’m also kinda fuzzy on the details of it all, but I’ll do the best I can:

• Sun was HOT. Food trucks at AX was great but waiting for food outside was not cool. (Haha, punny.)
• Being on Special Events sucks because the supervisor schedules everything to conflict with the good stuff. Jerk.
• Hatsune Miku on stage was both interesting and really sad at the same time.
• Met some amazing artists! @rosalutea, @honhonhon(Chira), @puppetbomb(fanartist), @finni, @thechromaticscale(Juby), and @jc125 that I remember. Totally forgot to see @ashwara cause I forgot he was going to be there because I was devoid of internet through the entire convention. Stupid Sheraton. Would’ve really loved a Para-Ten book too…
• The warning “18+” means an automatic good time. Apparently.
• I am definitely not alone in my borderline obsession of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

All in all, a very good Anime Expo. That’s definitely not everything I wanted to say, but I forgot everything else. Stupid brain and faulty memory. Still, I love conventions and convention time in general and I miss it all already. Totally looking forward to doing all this again.
