"Little Witch Academia 2" Kickstarter Now Live

For those fans of the wildly successful Anime Mirai OVA, your prayers have been answered. The Kickstarter for the second episode of Little Witch Academia is now live and open for pledges.

Originally announced during the Little Witch Academia panel at Anime Expo this year, the page states the second original video animation was to be another 20 minute episode, but Studio TRIGGER is looking to make it longer, hoping to extend it to a mouthwatering 35 minutes.

As an added bonus, TRIGGER is also keeping the first episode of Little Witch Academia public on YouTube during fundraising. Be sure to check it out and pledge to this killer anime!

Usagi Drop Live-Action: Film Review

animeintern:

What is there to say about this franchise? I guess you would call it a franchise. Three different adaptations of the same story through three different types of media. And unlike most other manga-anime-film families I’ve seen, Usagi Drop just keeps getting better and better. If you have some sort of beef with the manga ending (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) you might want to watch this movie.

I’m begging you to watch it. It’s so good, I’m reblogging it here and I hate reblogging anime stuff here.

Pop GO Presents: Reader Appreciation Week Podcast

populationgo:

Pop GO wouldn’t be what it is today if it didn’t have the continued support of the readers. So this week, while not as ambitious as the first Reader Appreciation Week, is meant to do just that: show our appreciation to our wonderful readers out there!

To help celebrate this week, a few staff members — Calvin, Erin, Ian, Paolo and Steve — came together and recorded a special podcast this past weekend. And thanks to those of you who sent in topics, they had a lot of good things to talk about!

If your topic was chosen by a specific member and discussed by the rest of the staff members, then you will be given an awesome prize from the member who chose your topic! Did your topic get chosen? Download the podcast to find out!

And even if you didn’t send in a topic, give the podcast a listen. Very good discussions were had on it, and it’ll allow you to familiarize yourself with a few of our writers.

Hit the break to listen to Pop GO’s special R.A.W. Podcast! :)

Fanime 2012 Wrap-up Video

Song: Shake-A-Booty by Hank Green

It’s hard to believe that Fanime 2012 is in the bag. It’s also hard to believe I had enough footage to make this. I had less than last year to work with, and last year, I barely had enough. In any case, Fanime was pretty cool this year. It’s a bit of a shame I was work-working for most of it, but that’s how it goes. Looking forward to next year, for sure.

Holy shit, this is happening.

  • Currently in a “meeting” about my responsibilities at Fanime Con 2012
  • Will be writing a shit-ton apparently
  • Attending industry panels and doing some legit reporting
  • So much more work than when I was a VIZ intern
  • May just skive off Friday entirely because of this
  • So: If anybody who follows me will be at Fanime, come say “hi”
  • I really want to meet new people and be awkward
  • fun fun fun fun fun fun fun

Pop GO’s Official ‘Fan Favorite’ Tournament Bracket
Fan Favorite, our version of March Madness, officially begins today and will run all throughout the month of March!
32 of our staff’s personal favorite characters from 2011-2012 will battle it out in a 20-day, 5-round tournament. Each day you will have the opportunity to vote on match-ups between two characters and can help send one into the next round. Only 1 can be crowned champion when the dust clears on March 31, and they can only be crowned by YOU, our readers.
As you can see from our official Fan Favorite bracket above (view higher resolution), 16 Geek characters are lined up on the left and 16 Otaku characters are lined up on the right*. One character from each side will meet in a Geek vs. Otaku final to decide Pop GO’s ultimate Fan Favorite.
*Some video game characters were eligible as both Geek and Otaku.
Voting for today’s match-ups begins soon. Help decide the fate of these characters all month long!

I have a couple dogs in this fight, but for the sake of gartering traffic to the actual voting site, I won’t say which two. Go nuts and go vote.

Looking for openings to put up for Population GO and found the Pokemon 3: The Movie opening sequence in French. It sounds really nice.

Sidenote: I will always have an unironic love for Pokemon.

Pop GO Celebrates “Reader Appreciation Week”!

populationgo:

In honor of all of the readers who has helped Pop GO surpass the 10,000 follower mark, we will be dedicating all of next week, starting Monday, Dec. 5th until Friday, Dec. 9th, to all of the wonderful geeks and otaku who have made it possible!

Compared to the more prominent blogs on Tumblr, 10,000 may not be that big of a number. But to a humble geek site like ours, it is beyond anything we have ever imagined. Pop GO wouldn’t be where it is today without the continued love and support that our readers have shown us the past year. Therefore, next week is all for YOU.

In addition to a few prize giveaways and contests, we will also be giving our readers the opportunity to be interviewed and featured in our Hi 5 segment.

Hit the break to find out how!
